HSAC Kelling 6th July
25 July 2008, admin @ 4:08 am

Venue : Kelling Sunday 6th July 9am - 2pm

The last match of the summer season saw eight of us turn out at kelling, this wasnt surprising as the recent fishing along the north norfolk coast has been very poor, as other match and pleasure anglers will probably agree with.

A flat calm crystal clear sea with sandeels jumping,we didn’t hold out much hope for bumper catches but we would give it a try.

It was forecast for heavy showers but luckily they seemed to be slightly further north and the match stayed relatively dry with us catching the lighter tail end of the storms.

Tony “TT” Thomas headed off to the blockhouse, myself and John Neave walked to the left of the carpark and the rest went towards the right with late comers Richard ” Golden Bollox” Ives and Dennis” The Whinger” Hunn were more towards the Rosalie wreck area.

After a long sloooow 5 hours only two members managed to catch anything within the size limits and that was Dennis and
Sam ” Lucky ” Attew.Tony reported losing a bass close in and everyone else seemed to have managed undersize , dabs and flounders.

Thank god the summer season is over so we can all now look forward to the winter season which should be starting sometime in September, dates and venues will be added and newsletter will be sent out after 18th of August.

CBVSAC Match 5

Match 5 - Porth Iago - Sunday 13th July 2008

10 of us this time, on a brilliantly sunny day with no wind, we couldn`t have ordered it better, however I think we`ll have to have a rethink on these away matches for next year, with fuel prices the way they are.

Everyone weighed in, but some struggled to find their dogs and wrasse so that made it quite interesting when weigh in time arrived.

Mike Jones found a good spot, with his 3 fish bag limit on 4 species - ballans, dogs, pollack, and corkwings, giving him a runaway winning bag of 6.09 kgs. Nearest to him, but well behind was Terry Jones, with 3 ballans, a dog, and a small conger for 3.55 kgs.

Norman Dorling took 3rd with 3.39 to stay top of the league and also winning the final of the K.O. cup. 4th place went to Dave Mitchell with 2.90, 5th was Mike Peters with 2.66, and 6th Gary McLeod with 2.53. This was just sufficient to win him the Trevor Davies cup with 71 points to Norman`s 70 over the last 2 matches.

The heaviest fish prize went to Mike Jones with a ballan wrasse of 1.24 kgs ( 2-11-08 lbs ) and top team were Norman and Gary with 69 points.

CBVSAC junior summer league Match 4
25 July 2008, admin @ 4:02 am

Benarth - 20th July 2008

Three juniors fished the fourth leg of the junior summer league, at Benarth on 20/07/08. The weather brightened up about an hour before we were due to begin, and this spot is protected from the wind so it made for quite a pleasant day.

Bites came thick and fast throughout the match, but it was a struggle to hook and land the bootlace Eels which were in abundance.
At the end of the match, Elliot had walked it, with a bag of a Bass, 5 Eels and a Flounder for a total of 266cms.
Stephen was second, with 2 Eels and a cracking Flounder for 126cms, and Tom was third with a Flounder and an Eel for 72cms.

The last match of the league will be held at The Foryd on 07/09/2008, fishing from 14-00 until 17-00.

Going into this match, the current league placings are;
1. Elliot Roberts, 58 points, 548cms
2. Tom Jones, 57 points, 384cms
3. Stephen Higginson, 32 points, 156cms
4. Evan Adams, 10 points, 0cms
