Sam Hook League North Beach Yarmouth, Beaconsfield Road - Monday 6th October
Another fine night with a light south south easterly saw the continuance of the big bags of South beach and probably better. It looks like being the best year for some time for whiting and codling with a cracking specimen of 5lb 6 2/3 being taken. An excellent turnout of 16 managed 472 fish which was 105 more than last week. Again let’s all hope this continues at Hopton.
With so many double figure weights around it was “nip and tuck” all the way but it was rookie Dene “geordieman” Conway stealing top spot by 1 oz with a fish on his last 4 mins cast recording a weight of 15lb 6oz from 33 fish which included that cracking codling and heaviest to date. Runner up was Mark ” the quiet one” Gooch with 15lb 5oz from 29 fish followed by Kevil “bassman” Chilvers with 14lb 5 1/2oz from 42 fish making the podium for the 2nd week in a row.
Well looks as though it really is going to be a bumber year for a change and Hopton will confirm if this is really going to happen. Welcome aboard to Robert Ford who has joined us for the winter season. With some notable absentees at the last match we could very easily reach 20 per match in the next few weeks, can’t be bad!!!
