Sam Hook Monday Night Sea League, Hopton, Camp - Monday 13th October
Yet another fine night with a light south westerly and a moonlite flat calm gave us another night of double figure weights. With other matches recording numerous whiting it now appears we really are in for a season of whiting plenty. Who would have predicted 4 weeks ago that over 4lb would only put you in last place so this could be the league’s best winter ever. The best turn out of the year (17) managed 411 fish which was 61 less than last match which can’t be bad!!!
Continuing his excellet form, Clyde “end peg” Leggett took top spot with 13lb 1oz (peg 3) from 39 fish demonstrating he has found “holy grail” for big weights. Second place went to Kevil “bassman” Chilvers with 12lb 8 1/2oz (6) from 36 fish for his 3rd podium finish in a row. Final podium slot went to Tony “last cast” Thomas (1) with 10lb 15oz from 33 fish .
With whiting and some healthy codling everywhere we wonder what weight will be needed to do the business at our return visit to South Beach Gt. Yarmouth. With an ebbing tide we will see how the new outer harbour has affected South Beach catches with the tide coming from the harbour!!!
