Sam Hook Monday Night League Hopton Camp 27th October

Sam Hook Monday Night League Hopton Camp 27th October

Another dry clear but cool night with no real wind and top of the tide at Hopton saw those double figure catches keep rolling in.  This is certainly our best results for years with whiting, quality dabs and healthy codling with the best to date again being beaten by a 6lb beauty. Even so, turn out is still down to 11 managing 199 fish which is 13 less than previous match at Gt Yarmouth.

At last showing some form by finding the good codling was Gary “big eels” Medler (peg 2) who took top spot with 15lb 11oz from 16 fish which included 4 codling and that 6lb 2/3oz specimen which is heaviest winter round to date.  Runner-up was Tony “last cast” Thomas (15) for his 3rd podium finish in a row with 12lb 9oz from 30 fish.  Final podium place went to Keith “the boss” Morley (7) with 11lb 3oz from 17 fish.

With top 2 coming from both end pegs the old question arises is it skill that scores or end peg?.  However, what it does look like you definitely need a codling or two to get in the frame which raises another dilemma do you target codling or bag up on whiting??
